I have a ton of kids at the house (nieces and nephews) coupled with my three kids, their driving me crazy. Everyone will be gone in two weeks. Yeah, two. I’m counting the days. But it also means that my editing keeps being interrupted.
I pulled an all-nighter a couple days ago. Yeah, right! My daughter (15) and niece (13) came pounded down the steps. It seems at 2 am she had an allergic reaction to something. Her lips swelled up and her face had blotchy spots over them. Well, about 4:30 I sent her and the niece back to bed. About 5:00, I finished my shower then the hubby was getting up for work. So I stayed up with him. Oh, and I forgot, and apparently the hubby and son did too, that it was trash day. I took the trash out then thought I’d check my email before going to bed. Somehow, it was 8:00 before I crawled, defeated into the bed. My all-nighter had produced nothing. Frustrated isn’t even the word.
So to cheer me up, I thought of something that makes me happy. Other than writing, fam and books. It’s my fav TV show: Lost. So in honor of my fav show - that airs no more, I give you *drum roll, please* the cast of Lost.
Have a great day. Read a book and laugh!!!
Dawn,
ReplyDeleteI feel you. With the kids at home and family coming in every other week, it's been a struggle to get anything done, and my time hasn't been my own.
Worse, I'm sleeping 11 hours a day and caffeine hasn't helped. I simply cannot get up, and on waking up I'm thinking of those 5 hours I could have used to work on a piece or write a review....
I'm deep in revisions right now too, and I've been having trouble finding time. My husband is home a lot more in the summer and I've been taking on a lot more freelance editing jobs, which I love. But that leaves less time to edit. Today is a strictly a revising day though. Well, revising and commenting on your blog apparently. Okay, back to revising!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, it's good to know I'm not the only one. Now we need to motivate each other to keep going. LOL I never sleep and still feel guilty for the three hours I do get. Or I feel guilty about going to a movie with the fam...LOL It won't always be like this, that thought gets me through the day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking a break to comment, Kelly. Yes, now back to work.
ReplyDeleteHey Dawn, I can't even begin to tell you how familiar that sounds. It happens to me more times than I can count. I go to sit down to write and all hell breaks loose. I swear if you looked up Murphy's law in the dictionary it would have a picture of my sitting at my writing desk beside it.
ReplyDelete*sending sympathy waves in your direction*
You are NOT alone Miss Dawn (clearly). I have to make dates with myself, and the 'project manage' myself. I actually like it better when it's cold and rainy outside because then I go to the library and will spend the entire day (weekends)writing. Hang in there ( and to all your readers who are suffering from the same issue)..
ReplyDeleteThanks, C.M. and Brenda. I knew other writers would understand my frustration because they share/live it too. Thanks for a listening hear. It's nice to have somewhere to rant sometimes. Blogging is one of the best things I could have done. Thanks everyone for understanding.
ReplyDeleteOh you poor baby! I know your feelings all too well...although I wish to the heavens that I did not! Sooo... since you brought up Lost...the ending? I mean really? That's what we were waiting all this time for?? I'd love to know your thoughts...BTW, I'm typing this as my son is trying to have a full on conversation with me...UGH!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. I'm doing a lot of family stuff for the summer and still trying to write, while also doing a manuscript evaluation job. Phew!
ReplyDeleteI share your love for Lost. Just found out that the guy who played Locke on Lost will be a regular on the new Hawaii Five-O series. I'll be tuning in.
Hey Christina. Yeah, the final episode of Lost was something. It took me some time to really get it. Not sure if I do but I think that writer part of me made it all fit together the way I wanted it to. I think. LOL Oh, and I totally understand the kid at computer attempting to type with you thing- been there - so many times.
ReplyDeleteHey, Catherine. I do love Lost. I've never watched Hawaii Five-O but I could tune in to the show to see Terry O'Quinn (I believe that's the guys name that played Locke). Thanks for the info.
Yup, summer holidays here too with two energetic children to entertain. I have two plays to write and the words are not flowing. Must try harder.
ReplyDeleteI've been there Fi, I write at night - late - when everyone else is asleep. Then I struggle with other things during the day..but school will be back in a couple weeks.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your revisions. And LOST is awesome! Thanks for the pics.
ReplyDeleteThanks, RaShelle. I miss my fav TV show. I have nothing to watch now.
