Sharing my Epic news

Hey, Everyone. I've been so busy lately I've had to schedule a time to breathe. Why so busy? Well, let me share. You all know I love to do that.

1. This is a big one. You know how I published a book last year. And then a novella. And then another book. Well, I thought, because of something else big that's happening in my life right now that I'll share in the next section, I could try to submit my work to a publisher. You know, the whole doing-it-all-by-yourself thing was empowering and all but oh so much work. So, I submitted Finding Me. And waited. And waited some more. Then I received an email that said I was ACCEPTED. **Throws confetti. Waves and shouts and does a little dance** I had to read it a few times to make sure they were really talking about me and that they were serious. They were. I'm super excited about this new venture. I'll be re-releasing the first two books in the trilogy. Unfortunately, the third book will be pushed back a little. But no worries. It is complete and ready for editing. So now I can officially say I’m with Booktrope Publishing!

2. That other big news I had...I'm in school again. I decided to get my masters degree in Library Science since I hadn't hit the million dollar mark yet on my book sells. :) *crossing fingers -just one more carefully worded tweet* I am a perpetual nerd sucking up all the information I can so it was only a matter of time before I made the decision to return to school. Plus, honestly, me and the day job are not on speaking terms right now. Seriously! So wish me luck and giant mugs of extra rich coffee.

3. I wrote two short stories that will be featured in two different anthologies. Both are releasing in October. *You know what I was doing this summer. Wearin' out them keys* I'm really excited about them both, but I'm especially excited that one is an adult horror piece. As everyone knows, I write YA fantasy, so this was a big deal for me. I loved it. I'll share more on the two anthologies in a later post. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you'll see the teasers start to pop up.

Well, that's it for me...because my face just hit the keyboard I'm so tired. **Wipes drool evidence from the “A” key.** What have you all been up to?

Have a great day. Read a book and smile!

Guess What's Coming to the Movies?

I love reading. Anyone who's read this blog knows that, of course. But I also love movies. A lot. I don't get to watch them as often as I'd like but they are a huge part of my unwinding and entertainment.

I went surfing the net for movies coming out recently. Initially, I was looking at Marvel movies - you know my fascination with super heroes and all. But I discovered a slew of movies adapted from books that look so good I couldn't not share them with everyone. After I stopped fangirling, I decided to share my three favorites only.

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

I have this book on my Kindle. I started reading it a while ago but put it aside to beta read another author's book. I hadn't picked it up because it is not a continuation of Gone Girl. But now after watching the trailer, I think I will read this soon - before the movie comes out.

Z for Zechariah by Robert C. O'Brien

I've never heard of this author or this title that I can remember but the premise sounds so good. And I really like Margot Robbie. And it's sci-fi - need I say more.

Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman

I haven't read this novel but I think I'll try to snatch it up before I see the movie. Why? Because Laura Lippman is a master at mystery and complex characters. I adore her work.

Honorable Mentions:

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Room by Emma Donoghue
