I received the Stylish Blogger Award from LMPreston.
Thanks, LM, you’re great!!! Now I have to pass on the award to other deserving blogs. I also have to list seven facts about myself that most won’t know.
1. I’m in school getting my English degree. I have an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies and started a business degree right after that then stopped. I hated business. It didn’t hold my interest and I knew I didn’t want to work in an office my entire life. So English is perfect for me. While I wait for my writing to take off, I’ll teach. I love kids so the choice was obvious. However, it didn’t occur to me until the company I’d work at for years closed. If it hadn’t closed I’d probably still be there – I was just that loyal. I’d still be writing but I’d be there doing it…on my hour lunch break with my company phone ringing off the hook and my email flashing. Thanks, LM, you’re great!!! Now I have to pass on the award to other deserving blogs. I also have to list seven facts about myself that most won’t know.
2. I love being home with my family. Why hadn’t I done this before? Oh, yeah, reality says, “you couldn’t afford it.” Right. Well, I love it now.
3. I’m not an animal person. I love to look at them. I’ll swoon and say how cute they are, but I won’t touch them. And I don’t have any pets. We tried a dog but when I did most of the upkeep work, I told the kids never again. I meant it. I think?
4. I’ve written two full manuscripts and I’m almost complete with a third. None published. The first novel I wrote was so bad it ought to have a disclaimer: do not read while operating heavy machinery. This thing’ll put you to sleep faster than NyQuil. Yeah it was that bad. Great plot. Great characters. Horrible writing.
5. I loved the characters from my first novel so much. I miss them like I miss an old friend. I’m never going to give up on it (I mean making it shine. I only sent it to a couple agents so I’m good on querying it still). I am going to work on it as soon as I finish my current WIP.
6. I am the biggest nerd I know. I love the history channel, science channel, - well, anything not Reality TV. One huge exception, American Idol. This is my first year watching it and I’m so excited. I loved Lauren from the start and hope she wins. I haven’t seen tonight’s episode and I’m anxious to see who went home.
7. The very first book I ever read was The Flowers in the Attic by the late V.C. Andrews. I was in the third grade ***too young, I know*** and I haven’t been able to stop reading since.
I’m passing the award on to four deserving blogs that I discovered just recently:

Have a great day, LOL, tomorrow. Read a book and laugh.
Good luck with the degree and WiPs. I'm a literature graduate who gave up office work to be a mum (not necessarily by choice - the giving up work bit) and also have several WiPs.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the degree, it looks like you have a lot on your plate. And congratulations for the award!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! What a beautiful award. :)
ReplyDeleteI also traded in my old job for a new one: Mommy. It's more rewarding, but ten times harder. :)
Dawn, congratulations on your award! Great to read your replies. No pets, ever? Ah, come on! :) Think of a cuddly dog that will wag its tail to welcome you home every day!
ReplyDeleteYeah for you. I just finished my first WIP, but I wrote it twice, does that count. I am truly impressed you have THREE! That is wonderful. You do have a stylish site.
ReplyDeleteWow Fi, several Wips - that's impressive. Staying home with the kids is the best isn't it!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Muriel. I do have a lot on my plate and though I complain to my hubby sometimes, I don't think I'd want it any other way. I'm loving my crazy, hectic life right now.
Tabitha, yes the job of Mommy is harder but you're right the benefits are EXCELLENT. I wouldn't trade this job in for anything. I adore my children.
Bella, I've caved before on the dog issue. Their cuteness just always gets to me somehow. But as of right now, I can't afford another child (that's what an animal is like). I can't afford the monetary expense or the mental expense!!! LOL If you have a dog, you understand.
Brenda, sure it counts. Don't be impressed just yet. You gotta read them. LOL jkjk. I'm thrilled to be able to say that I've got two fulls and a partial WIP. I'm glad I stuck with them. I've been a wonderer for some time about things. I've always loved to read and write but I never thought "I" could do it "for real." I made a believer out of me. Now if I could just make a believer out of an agent???
Hi Dawn!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the award! It's my first one. I have two children myself as well as two cats. At one point we had three cats but I convinced a friend to adopt one. In the past, we've had turtles, hamsters and a lizard. Lately, my son has tried to convince me to let him get a snake. I said no!
As for WIPs, I have two. One of them is a YA novel and the other one is an attempt at drama/horror.
I’ve already completed 20 years with my employer, and my children are 21 and 17 years old. However, I still wish I could stay home but I can’t afford it…yet.
Congrats on the award ;D
ReplyDeleteCarmen, I can't wait til my kids get your kids age. Congrats on finishing two of your WIPs. And you deserve the award!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle.
